Trial FAQs

Once I have the software what else do I need?

For Miura Ingest, as well as Miura Replay and Miura Tape Layback, software you will need the a BlackMagic Capture card - currently the cards from the Decklink range (including the Decklink HD Extreme and Decklink SDI) devices are supported. card which is used to bring the video and audio HD / SD SDI into the host computer. These are available from BlackMagic here, or can be supplied direct from us at BLM.

You will also need a suitable computer in which to install the capture card and run the software. The specification of machine depends on the usage requirements. For SD content ingest we have benchmarked on a CoreDuo 2.3GHz workstation class machine which will write an MPEG-2 master and WM9 browse proxy concurrently. For HD a QuadCore processor running at 2.7GHz or better is generally required.

For thin client applications such as the Miura File Logger, a standard office PC running Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7 will be sufficient.

Please see also the supported hardware pages at this website.

Is the trial software the same as the release software?

Yes, the trial software issued is generally as the current GA release software in terms of functionality and comes complete with our range of standard free CODECs. There are minor differences in relation to handling metadata in some case, for example the metadata capture view for Miura Ingest is truncated for simplicity.
