Miura
Miura is part of the new generation of software based tools from Blue Lucy Media which represent the new order in broadcast and professional video applications. Miura – the linear content ingester is a complete client / server based video and audio ingester which offers the highest standard in linear to file based content acquisition for both SD and HD sources.
Miura accepts an (HD or SD) SDI signal at any standard of frame rate / resolution and writes a full resolution MPEG-2/4, MXF (OP1a) wrapped master file at high bit rate together with a lower resolution, frame locked, browse quality proxy at the same time, and in real time.

Simplicity in Operation
In common with the Blue Lucy Media philosophy across the toolset usability and ease of deployment has been paramount in the product design. Device control is via an intuitive software control client which may run directly on the host machine or any remote client PC on the business / production network – crucially away from that noisy machine room! The instinctive control panel provides VTR deck emulation allowing operators to preview material and build an ingest job (clip) list. Whilst the top level control panel view allows low skilled operators to carry out bulk ingest jobs, engineers and highly skilled operators may have access to lower level configurations to create encoding profiles.

Integrated Workflow
Miura is available as a white label offering which, utilizing our Web Services SOAP API, means it may be deployed and fully integrated with ease as part of a larger content ingestion or production platform for bulk ingest of content.
Cost Effective Bulk Ingest
Connected to your facility networked attached storage the Miura may 'digitise' all tape based or line acquired content for use across the facility without needing to tie up edit suites or transmission servers. As the ingested essence is MXF wrapped it may be pulled into non-linear editors or pushed to transmission or web servers without requiring any processing or file re-wrapping. The client / server model means a single ingest operator can manage up to 20 ingester servers from a single workstation.
Metadata
Miura comes complete with an MXF file writer allowing metadata to be captured and persisted with the essence in the file wrapper. Alternatively a tailored XML file can be written out along with the media for automatic population of your asset management system. Metadata capture templates come as standard and may be designed to include any attribute fields from the entire MXF DMS-1 metadata schema.
Future Proof Software Architecture
The software architecture of the Miura not only allows a full resolution HD master and browse quality proxy to be written on a single server in real time but the video filters, compression CODECS, and indexing components are pluggable; meaning that as new and more efficient CODECs, for example, become available Miura may be updated to accommodate these in a few minutes without needing to 'retire' the hardware.

Currently supported are MPEG-2, (MPEG-4 pt10) H.264, WM9, DVCPRO, IMX and more. If your business has a preferred CODEC or specific index format these can be readily deployed on the server allowing seamless file based integration with existing systems. The Miura tool-set which includes software based noise reducers, scalers and de-interlaces offers the highest possible image quality ensuring your content is optimised for every application - be it archive, IPTV, or a new media delivery platform. Miura is an entirely software based product requiring only a, low cost and award winning, Black Magic Decklink HD Extreme capture card and a suitable host workstation or server. Miura offers an innovative and attractive alternative to traditional monolithic broadcast and media system ingest architectures.
Rapid Access to Content
The Miura ingests SD or HD video and associated audio to an MPEG-2 MXF (OP1a) wrapped file and a frame accurate browse proxy in real time, so there is no waiting around for proxies to be ‘ripped’ from the masters, Miura also supports progressive download for both the master and proxy so ingested content is available for viewing and logging from the moment a recording starts, essential for sport or news environments.
Protect Your Content
Miura allows watermarking of content for either, or both, the master and browse proxy file. A typical application may be that you provide browse quality copies of material on a public facing web portal and these may be watermarked with your company logo to ensure that they are not unlawfully distributed. Miura also provides easy integration with many DRM solutions.
