At IBC this year BLM is showing the second generation of MIURA, the software-based production tools for broadcast and video applications that allow broadcasters and video content owners to migrate their operations away from closed and proprietary systems to open platforms which conform to defined standards of interoperability and permit the implementation of IT standards-based high availability techniques.

The Miura tools have been grouped into modules for three key operational areas which reflect the media workflow requirements of a modern operation, namely:

Ingest from tape or linefeeds and
file import
Transcode, Lay-back to Tape
and Export.
QC, Logging, Cataloguing, Clip
Selection and Conforming;

BLM are also demonstrating a complete archive digitisation system which shows how a simple deployment of BLM production tools for legacy archive ingest, cataloguing and processing enables content owners to retrieve value from tape based material with minimal up-front investment. The system on show provides:

  • Archive digitisation using the Miura software based media processing services.
  • Content cataloguing and metadata management
  • Search and retrial including partial file restore
  • Media formatting and delivery using lossless video processing techniques.
